Congratulations to the 2023 York Book Award winner

Rebel Skies by Ann Sei Lin!

Congratulations to Ann Sei Lin, who was announced as the winner of our student judges’ votes during the award ceremony on Friday 24th March, held at St Peter’s School, York.

Six schools from the York area joined us to celebrate the shortlisted books and the students’ responses to them. We heard from JT Williams and Catherine Johnson live on Zoom, and were joined in person by Berlie Doherty, Ann Sei Lin, and Dan Smith.

Each of the authors talked about their shortlisted novels, their writing process, and their inspiration, in a series of fascinating talks, followed by some searching questions by the students.

The student prizes were awarded after judging by the committee, and were awarded to:
